Anderson Japanese Garden
Anderson Japanese Garden is a great place to visit in Rockford, Illinois. It is a real treat for photographers!

September in Wisconsin ends with fall color just beginning to arrive. Another nice sky drew me out with my camera to capture these old buildings in my local area.

The Hamilton Inn
Photographers I know call photos like these Slim Jims. I took these pictures hoping to be able to use them as banners on my camera club’s home page, but I couldn’t make the aspect ratio work with the pixels I had. I still enjoyed taking these shots, though. So, I decided to use them in this blog post.
Later – I finally got what I was after to use as a home page banner image for my camera club’s home page. Here it is:
Taking advantage of a nice late summer day, I visited Lion’s Den Gorge, on the Lake Michigan shoreline just south of Port Washington, Wisconsin. The last flowers of summer were in bloom, but a few leaves were already starting to turn red, a harbinger of the imminent change of seasons, as fall approaches.
Old Stone Building
This rustic fieldstone building graces a county road in rural Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. The flag, flowers, and milk can added nice touches to the rugged textures of the barnwood and rough stone masonry. To see larger images, visit the Old Stone Building gallery.
Chopper Jimmy Memorial
Chopper Jimmy survived a hitch in the Marine Corps, but lost his life on a county road in Wisconsin. Apparently Jim enjoyed hitting the bars, from the looks of this monument. Maybe he had one too many before heading out on the twisty road where his friends placed this monument. These photos appear in the Roadside Memorials gallery.
Beware of Frog
While visiting a rural church cemetery today, the last thing I expected to see was a whimsical collection of metal frog sculptures residing in a small memory garden! View gallery of larger images.
Dundee Mill – Dundee, Wisconsin
Visited historic Dunee mill today, enjoying a late summer photo outing. The profuse flowers in bloom were a nice touch! Today’s photos appear in the Rustic Mills gallery.
Ozaukee County Pioneer Village Bluegrass Festival – 2015
On August 9, 2015 the Ozaukee County Historical Society presented its annual Bluegrass at the Village Festival, and yours truly was there. This year’s festival featured five local Bluegrass bands, and plenty of comfort food and drink to keep the ample crowd well-fed and happy. A nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Wisconsin’s short summer!

Ontonagon, MI County Fair
Ontonagon is in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This is an area of small towns but wonderful, friendly people. View photos from the 2015 county fair, which also featured an antique tractor and power equipment show.
