2014 Revolutionary War Reenactment – Ozaukee County Pioneer Village

Every year during Labor Day weekend, Ozaukee County Pioneer Village turns into an armed camp. Dozens of Revolutionary War reenactors arrive to stage their annual encampment. Authentic costumes abound, realistic camps spring up, military formations are staged, and noisy battles ensue.

To witness this year’s action, drop by the Pioneer Village Revolutionary War Reenactment gallery, where 29 new photos have been added.

Milwaukee Photo Pictorialists Outing – Port Washington, Wisconsin

Here’s the intrepid group of photographers I led on a photo tour of Port Washington recently. Keeping with the nautical focus of the town, we posed at the Toledo Anchor Memorial in Union Cemetery. These folks are members of the Photo Pictorialists of Milwaukee, a camera club founded in 1904.

The outing began with a tour of the Port Washington 1860 Light Station led my Howard Vrankin (second from right) and me (blue shirt).

The Photo Pictorialists is my only current photo club affiliation. Many thanks to William Stonecipher (second from left) for the great group photo!

A visit to the Milwaukee Fire Museum

The Milwaukee Fire Museum is located at 16th and Oklahoma in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It resides in an authentic Milwaukee Fire Department fire station built in 1927, which remained active until 1995. Visitors can get a glimpse of what life at a fire station was like during that time.

There is a nice collection of artifacts showing various technologies used to report fires and dispatch fire fighters. There are also two vintage fire trucks on display in the garage.

This week I presented my Lights of the Lakes show to 40 people at the Geneva Lake Museum in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The show was part of the museum’s “Tuesdays at Two” series. Afterwards, I toured the museum and took snapshots of a few of the exhibits.
